Field Applications Engineer

The Field Applications Engineering team is responsible for in factory and on-site support of CogniVue Image Cognition and Video Event Processors for North America and Europe. In this role the FAE will provide pre and post sales support, working closely with sales and the customer to develop their products using CogniVue products.

Continuously in contact with CogniVue software and hardware developers, the FAE will report and follow up on software bugs discovered and provide feedback to the team on desirable new features.

Reporting to the Director of New Business Support Engineering, the FAE will work with customers helping them integrate CogniVue parts into different automotive products utilizing a combination of software and hardware debugging skills. In addition, the FAE will assist the customer in the development of imaging applications using the ICP libraries and the customization of our PC-based PC Viewer software. The FAE will help the customer adapt our reference designs to suit their requirements.

This position is based out of our Ottawa/Gatineau area Head Office and will required travel 10% to 25% of the time.

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • Embedded programming using C/C++
  • Coding/debugging embedded device drivers
  • Experience with an embedded RTOS
  • Strong ability to work with hardware documentation including reviewing and creating reference designs
  • Experience in bringing up new hardware
  • Strong inter-personal, written, and oral communication skills
  • A team player with a "can do" attitude
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Capable of identifying and solving complex problems
  • A sense of urgency
  • You get things done!
  • It would be great if you have:

  • Experience working with vision systems, machine learning and/or Image/Video segmentation for object detection and tracking
  • An understanding of .NET programming framework
  • Knowledge of Nucleus and/or Linux
  • Experience with the use of embedded debugging tools and ideally Trace32
