
Simon Morris
Chief Executive Officer
Simon brings over twenty years of professional experience from both private and public semiconductor companies imparting a strong business and technology management background to CogniVue. He has a pervasive understanding in all areas of semiconductor business and product development. In addition to establishing a new corporate vision and market strategy for CogniVue, Simon is responsible for leading the evolution of the company from an R&D cost center through spin-out to an independent privately held fabless semiconductor business.
Prior to joining CogniVue, Simon spent just over a year as Director at BDC Venture Capital, responsible for investment strategy in the semiconductor sector with focus on wireless markets. Prior to BDC, he was a Business Manager for Mobile Digital Broadcast business unit at Texas Instruments in Dallas, and held both VP and COO positions at venture-backed Atsana Semiconductor securing both Siemens Mobile and Samsung Mobile business. From 1995 to 2001, Simon lead sales and technical support for wireless opportunities for Texas Instruments in Canada and later in France, where he built from the ground up TI’s highly successful Communication Infrastructure business, winning nine out of ten base station customers and leading the development of TI’s first 3G base station chipset and the first C64X based DSP. He holds an M.Eng in Electrical Engineering and a B.Eng in Electrical Engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada. Simon is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
Michael Kelly
Chief Financial Officer
Mike is a senior executive with extensive expertise in strategic and operational business planning and management, financing, systems, process and procedure development and implementation, financial reporting and analysis and cash management.
With over twenty five years of business experience, Mike has extensive hands on expertise across a broad spectrum of business environments. Previously, Mike was CFO for Gridpoint Systems, Firsthand Technologies and SpaceBridge Semiconductor where he was involved in establishing business strategy, creating business plans, and developing and implementing processes and procedures in growth oriented environments. In addition, Mike was involved in closing in excess of $70M of venture capital, and participating in the sale of two technology start-ups. Mike has also held senior roles in major public companies including Newbridge Networks, as Assistant Vice President, Business Unit Portfolio Management and SHL Systemhouse Inc., as Director of Finance. Mike is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University.
Paul Muysson
Vice President, Engineering and Operations
As a member of the senior management team, Paul Muysson is responsible for product development, product delivery, supply chain management, and quality. Paul is a seasoned executive, having established and managed business operations for several companies. As VP Operations at Stantive Technologies, Paul led the strategic planning processes and managed the business operations to transition the company from an IT equipment reseller to a developer of web-based software applications. At Aztech Associates, Paul transitioned a design service business to a product based organization by bringing to market an innovative new home energy display, establishing the sales channels, and raising investment. As VP Operations at CMC Microsystems, Paul led the development of a $24M budget, implemented key performance metrics, and improved the delivery of services to Canada’s academic research community.
At Seaway Networks, Paul managed the development of the company’s system and semiconductor products through an outsourced network of corporate partnerships, and established the supply chain that delivered cost-effective, high quality products to satisfied customers. At Tundra Semiconductor, Paul established the semiconductor supply chain throughout North America and Asia, and built respected manufacturing engineering teams that produced reliable semiconductor devices. At Mitel Corporation, Paul developed leading telecommunications semiconductor products, and ensured high quality manufacturing yields through several engineering and management roles.
Paul is active in the community, serving on the boards of several organizations. He is Director for the Eastern Ontario Manufacturer’s Network, Member of the Advisory Board for the Monieson Centre at the Queen’s University School of Business, and past Member of the Advisory Board for the Kingston Technology Council. Paul is a graduate with Dean’s Honours from Mohawk College.
Sangman Chung
Director Corporate Control
Sangman Chung brings over 15 years experience in managerial roles from different semiconductor organizations. As Director of Corporate Control at CogniVue, he is responsible for key corporate business management functions which include managing CogniVue’s important relationship with its strategic supplier and key shareholder MtekVision Co. Ltd. of Korea. Sangman also supports all business development with Korea including IP project collaboration with MtekVision and other Korea-based solution partners. In this capacity Sangman provides valuable advice and recommendations on business strategy.
From 2006 to 2009, Sangman filled both product planning and program management roles at MtekVision Canada Ltd. with responsibilities for coordinating the development of the successful Maple series of media processors with MtekVision. He also provided support to key mobile handset customer programs during this period. Prior to moving to Canada, Sangman was Senior Product Manager at MtekVision where he was involved in numerous activities ranging from business planning, product marketing, to assisting with their IPO. Prior to joining MtekVision in 2002, Sangman held strategic and business planning management positions at LG Semiconductor and Hynix Semiconductor. Sangman has a Masters in Computer Engineering from Chungbuk University in Korea and a Bachelor of Engineering Computer Science from Cheongju University in Korea.
Thomas Wilson
Director, Product Management & Marketing
Tom is a seasoned executive with over 15 years of management experience in semiconductor companies. Most recently at Wavesat, Tom was Vice President of Engineering leading the development of wireless baseband devices targeted for 4G consumer data terminals. Leading an aggressive program, Tom was responsible for assembling a new team and the necessary IP for the new product development. Before becoming VP of Engineering, Tom held a leadership position as Director of Product Management responsible for defining and bringing to production WiMAX 802.16e baseband processing components.
Previous to Wavesat, Tom was a member of senior management at Tundra Semiconductor. As one of the founding members of Tundra Semiconductor, Tom played a key role in defining and launching a series of semiconductor product families into mass production. While at Tundra, Tom held leadership roles in engineering, sales and product management. As Director of Product Management at Tundra, Tom brought a series of high-speed serial switch devices from definition to production and was directly involved with sales in securing the target Tier 1 Wireless Infrastructure OEM’s. Tom has a Bachelor’s of Science and PhD in Science from Carleton University Ottawa Canada.
Nemer D. Abourizk
General Counsel
In his role as General Counsel, Nemer directs CogniVue legal activities in support of the company business, including sales and licensing, HR and IP management. Nemer serves as General Counsel for an evolving portfolio of mid-sized technology corporations. Within these roles, Nemer successfully managed numerous acquisitions and private placements. He has also negotiated complex, multi-year, multi-million dollar agreements for the sale of products/software to tier one vendors and manufacturers located in North America, Europe, South East Asia and Japan.
Nemer was selected as a 2006 Forty Under 40 award recipient by the Ottawa Business Journal. Nemer is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and holds a Bachelor of Laws, a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Applied Sciences (Chemical Engineering).
