As mobile phones continue to grow in popularity, so does the demand for advanced multimedia processing. Maple processors can be configured to suit a multitude of customer platforms. In the case of host/slave systems, the Maple processor may be configured as a slave processor to a host device such as a baseband processor in a mobile handset. Alternately, if configured as an application processor for a smart phone, the Maple device acts as a master to the baseband processor in the system.

For these mobile phone applications, a fully-programmable software suite including an extensive range of video, audio and still image codecs is available. A multitude of peripherals are supported including Host Processor Interface (HPI) for communication with the baseband processor,  camera sensor, TV Out for display to a television, display interface for rendering images and video to the cell phone display. In addition, system memory is stacked ensuring a smallest solution footprint.
