CogniVue Driver Assist System (DAS) demonstrations are designed to illustrate the capabilities of the CV220X Image Cognition Processor (ICP) and validate the CV220X as the ideal embedded platform solution for a range of smart camera applications for the automotive market. CV220X ICPs offer high performance parallel processing in a small footprint (9mmx9mm including system memory), low power (~220mW) device.

CogniVue’s Smart Rear Camera demonstration on CV220X illustrates a single smart camera module solution capable of:

  • Real-time image de-warping to correct wide angle lens distortion
  • Object/pedestrian detection with zone distance estimation and tracking of nearest object from vehicle’s rear bumper
  • Rendering de-warped video frames with nearest object zone overlay to driver display in real-time
  • Multi-view including panoramic, top-down, and left/right split view
  • CogniVue's CV2201 ICP is featured in AudioVox’s first ‘active’ rear-view camera system which won AudioVox the “Best Of” CEA Innovation Award at CES in January 2011.

Blind Spot Detection (BSD) on CV220X

CogniVue's BSD demonstration detects and tracks one or more vehicles within a 3 meter blind spot of the host vehicle. An alarm indicator in the upper left position of the screen signals when a vehicle has entered the blind spot.

Technical innovation using CV220X ICPs for collision avoidance systems is showcased in this demonstration. Also known as forward collision warning systems, these automotive vision-based safety systems detect and help drivers avert imminent crashes. The system operates by detecting and tracking an obstacle vehicle in the path of the subject vehicle and warns the driver if the obstacle vehicle moves within a warning threshold distance. An alarm indicator in the upper right position of the screen signals when the threshold distance is attained.

Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) on CV220X

The LDWS demonstration on CV220X detects and tracks lane markings of the lane within which a vehicle is traveling. If the vehicle encroaches on the left or right lane, the corresponding left/right indicator at the bottom of the screen changes colour.
