MtekVision Announces the Maple-3™ Mobile Multimedia Processor

MtekVision’s Maple-3 Media Processor Offers High-Performance and Low-Power for High-End Mobile Phones and Personal Media Players

Barcelona, Spain – February 11, 2008 – MtekVision Korea’s CEO Michael Lee today announced the introduction of the Maple-3 Mobile Multimedia Platform (MMP) Processor at the 2008 Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain.

This latest MMP processor offering designed by MtekVision Canada (MTC) is targeted at high-end mobile phone/TV handsets and personal media player (PMP) applications. Building on its Maple-2 predecessor released into high-volume production in 2007 for products sold by world-leading mobile phones manufacturers, the Maple-3 processor achieves still higher performance while maintaining low-power consumption for its wide range of multimedia solutions aimed at next-generation mobile devices.

Maple-3 stands apart from past generation MMP processors with its highly differentiated application offering and enhanced multimedia functionality. By leveraging the flexible and configurable software platform present with all Maple processor products, Maple-3 offers unprecedented digital still image quality of 10 Mpixel resolution in addition to supporting a wider range of new and emerging codec standards for camcorder, audio and video player applications. The Maple-3 high-performance processing engine is capable of delivering state-of-the-art applications such as mobile television, mobile mapping service, facial recognition technology for checking user authenticity and optical character recognition for recognition and translation of printed text.

With improved bandwidth and data throughput available with 3G and 4G networks, Maple-3 products are capable of real-time transfer of multimedia content from mobile devices over the internet with no network performance limitations. Enhancements including improved graphics and image processing endorse this processor as the ‘all-in-one’ multi-media processor solution. In addition, the Maple-3 open-platform technology supports industry leading operating systems including WinCE and Linux which will help to reduce time-to-market of mobile products by increasing integration time of media-rich applications.
