MtekVision and Samsung Mobile Display Partner To Bring Faster Adoption of AMOLED Display based PMP Devices

 

Seoul, Korea, October 1, 2008 – To date the PMP market largely uses standard RGB type LCD displays. The recent partnership between Samsung Mobile Display and MtekVision is now making it possible for PMP device manufacturers to switch to a superior and higher quality display experience possible through the use of AMOLED display and Maple-3 media processor.

MtekVision Co Ltd has announced that it has completed development of a Personal Media Player (PMP) reference design using latest in Samsung Mobile AMOLEDTM Display technology based on MtekVision’s latest high performance multimedia processor, Maple-3.

By supporting, both standard 24 bit RGB type display interfaces and AMOLED advanced display interfaces, the Maple-3 media processor series introduces a new high quality display experience for ultra thin portable consumer devices.

Among many other features, Maple-3 separates itself from other competitor processors by taking landscape formatted video and converting the video easily into portrait orientated video on an AMOLED display. This is done without distorting the image and without sacrificing the quality of the original image.

As the popularity for mini multi-use PMP products rise, Samsung and MtekVision both agree that MtekVision’s Maple-3 solution, offering superior image and video quality, combined with ultra thin, high quality AMOLED display will be strongly positioned to drive mass adoption of AMOLED displays by PMP manufacturers.

MtekVisioon is best known for delivering leading-edge solutions for mobile phones, but based on the strong demand for AMOLED display based designs and this new joint development partnerships with Samsung Mobile Display MtekVision plans to now fully penetrate the PMP and “converged consumer devices” market.

To encourage faster adoption and cooperation among device manufactures who want to use AMOLED displays, MtekVision has also announced that, beginning next month, it will provide a Maple-3 SDK (Software Development Kit) with a support for AMOLED type displays integrated with a TSP (Touch Screen Panel).,
